Mrs. Jan Brandenburg
7th-9th Grade English/Bible Teacher
Mrs. Brandenburg graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education, with a Library Science specialization. Before joining the Calvary staff in 1988, she worked at the West Branch of the Lincoln Library as a children’s librarian. She now teaches 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade English, 11th Grade Bible, and Freshman Study Skills

Mr. Ben Brown
Teaches JH Science/Bible/Art
Mr. Brown received his teaching degree from University of Illinois. He has worked in the Riverton School District, and District 186. Mr. Brown has taught Jr. High Science and Art at Calvary since 1988.

Mrs. Becky England
Teaches Elementary and High School Spanish
Mrs. England graduated from Greenville College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. Although anticipating a 2nd or 3rd grade teaching position since she was very young, the Lord called her to be a Spanish teacher shortly after graduation from college. She has been pleased to teach Elementary and High School Spanish at Calvary Academy since the fall of 2000.

Dr. Jay Hinckley
Principal and Senior Bible Teacher
Dr. Hinckley graduated from Evangel College in 1987 with a major in Social Science, a concentration in History, and a minor in Communication and is a life time member of the International Honor Society in Social Science, PI Gamma Mu. He is certified to teach elementary self-contained classes (Kindergarten through eighth grade) as well as junior high and high school social science classes and English classes. His first teaching job in the fall of 1987 was in Girard; however, he joined the Calvary Academy staff teaching sixth grade in the fall of 1988. Dr. Hinckley completed his Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1997. Beginning the summer of 1998, he became the principal of Calvary Academy. In 2008, he graduated with his Doctor of Biblical Studies in Theology from Master’s International School of Divinity. Dr. Hinckley has taught a myriad of courses during his many years at Calvary, but he currently teaches the senior Bible class. For over twenty years, he has been married to Amy, and they have three sons, Jeremiah, Jesse and Micah.

Ms. Nadine Mackenzie
Teaches Elemetary, JH, and HS Band
Miss Nadine Mackenzie graduated in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences Degree in Music Education. Before coming to Calvary Academy, she has worked with several schools in the area including Williamsville and Tri City. Music has always been a big part of Miss Mackenzie’s life. She is an active member of Illinois Music Educators Association, MENC, and Kappa Kappa Psi. When Miss Mackenzie is not teaching children the joys of music, she can be found at Riverton United Methodist Church, where she teaches Junior High Sunday School, sings and assistant directs the choir, and even preaches. She is working toward becoming a certified lay speaker. She has been at the Academy since the Fall 2009.
