Change in Elgibility Requirements for High School
Posted on 09.15.08 by Lana Birch
We want Calvary Academy students to succeed in every area of life: academically, athletically, physically, socially, and spiritually. To this end, Calvary Academy’s Board has changed the eligibility requirements for high school students. The previous eligibility policy was the same as the IHSA’s policy, which is that a student must be passing four subjects. This meant that a student could be failing three subjects and still be eligible for extra-curricular activites. The new policy is similar to the IESA’s policy, which states that if a student has one failing grade for the weekly eligibility check, they are ineligible for that week. The ineligibilitywould run from Sunday through Saturday. The intent of the policy is to remind everyone that academic performance is more important than a student’s extra-curricular performance.
