Krazy Kamp: High School Play

Posted on 11.10.08 by Mychael
Krazy Kamp

The story starts when Adam Apple, the wheeler-dealer director of Camp John Smith gets himself into some trouble. He and his sidekick, Willard, are destined for “a real job” unless they get their camp in shape. But the rowdy “gentlemen of John Smith” need a place to stay until things get put back together. Adam finally convinces Eve Hunnicutt, the manager of the girls’ fashionable Camp Pocahontas, to give the boys a home. When serene Pocahontas comes in contact with wild John Smith, this entertaining farce bursts with hilarity. Of course, no one is to know the boys are staying, including the camp’s owner, Mrs. Thistlemist. Keeping any calm, however, is beyond reality when a parade of hilarious characters in addition to the John Smith boys wander into camp: Elmer Crumb, from the carnival with his associate, Cleopatra Nile, who is never without her snakes, Clams Marinara, the notorious gangster (who has a wild tune written about him), and the flashily-dressed Dixie, who makes “music” with her machine gun. With a ragtag cast filled with “colorful” chacarcters, this camp is in for some crazy times.

Come join us for a night of laughs. There will be dinner served on Nov. 20 & 21, starting at 6:30, doors open at 6:00. The play only will be on Nov. 22,starting at 7:00, doors open at 6:30. The tickets for the dinner theater are $20 for adults and $10 for children; for the play only it is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased from any cast member, in the foyer before and after 2nd service, or in the CA office.

Change in Elgibility Requirements for High School

Posted on 09.15.08 by Lana Birch

We want Calvary Academy students to succeed in every area of life: academically, athletically, physically, socially, and spiritually. To this end, Calvary Academy’s Board has changed the eligibility requirements for high school students. The previous eligibility policy was the same as the IHSA’s policy, which is that a student must be passing four subjects. This meant that a student could be failing three subjects and still be eligible for extra-curricular activites. The new policy is similar to the IESA’s policy, which states that if a student has one failing grade for the weekly eligibility check, they are ineligible for that week. The ineligibilitywould run from Sunday through Saturday. The intent of the policy is to remind everyone that academic performance is more important than a student’s extra-curricular performance.
